Objects are free-placed and depth-sorted — they're what make a map look hand-built instead of gridded. Characters expect 4 rows (↓ ↑ ← →) × 3 frames inside your box.

AethrGame 2D Builder

1 · Drop an image anywhere. The Extractor opens: drag a box around any sprite. White / checkerboard backgrounds are removed automatically. Name it, then add it as a Tile, an Object (free-placed prop like a tree or ruin), a Character walk sheet (4 rows ↓↑←→ × 3 frames), or a Portrait. Grab as many sprites as you like from one image. For perfectly uniform sheets, flip on Grid slice mode, nudge the overlay until it hugs the art, and slice cells with one click.

2 · Paint. Pick a tile brush, choose Ground / Deco / Collision, and paint, erase, or fill. Wheel zooms, middle-drag or Space pans.

3 · Dress the world. 🌲 Object places props anywhere (not on the grid!) — they depth-sort so players walk behind them, and can block movement. This is the secret to maps that don't look like RPG Maker.

4 · Add life. NPCs with portrait dialogue (Speaker | text per line), enemies, hearts, signs, portals, an ★ End Point, and a ⚑ Player Start.

5 · Make it yours. The 🏠 Title tab designs your game's start menu — .mp4 or image background, your title, menu music, and custom OPTIONS entries stored as game variables (volume, key rebinding and gamepad support are built in). ESC pauses in-game.

6 · Play & ship. ▶ PLAY tests instantly. Export Game = one playable HTML. Save Builder .html = this editor with your whole project inside it — the tool is the save file.
